Elan Creative founder Nina Young took an interest in charity Heart Walk Foundation after she purchased something from their fair trade store earlier this year. The order was shipped with a leaflet describing the projects the charity organises for indigenous communities living in harsh conditions high in the Peruvian Andes. Nina was inspired by the projects organised and funded by the charity, such as building the very first school in the region. Previously young children had to live away from home for many weeks at a time without their families if they wanted any chance of an education. Nina didn’t hesitate to reach out and offer help via Elan Creative when she saw Heart Walk Foundation were asking for a volunteer to help with their website.
Earlier this year we transformed the charity’s very basic online store into a beautiful e-commerce website: Tribal Store. Charity founder Penelope Eicher has since reported record sales in the first year of the new website going online because of the search engine optimisation that we did for them. In total Elan Creative has donated 200 hours in website design and development and SEO services to the charity in 2018, but that’s not all.
Our director Nina was even further inspired by Heart Walk Foundation’s pledge to fund a doctor for the communities they support. Many of those women don’t survive childbirth and some of their babies don’t survive their first months, because of the complete lack of healthcare in the region. Therefore our director has decided to take part in a 5km run dressed as Father Christmas in order to raise much needed funds for the charity’s goal to fund a doctor for the year.
